MEDICINE HRT Risks For thousands of women who experience abnormal difficulties during menopause and have been prescribed Hormone Replacement erapy (HRT), there is disturbing news from the science community. A recent study shows that women who took the most com- monly prescribed HRT for five years were more than twice as likely to develop cancer as those who took nothing. Women who took HRT for more than 10 years tripled their risk. According to consultant gynecologist Profes- sor Mary Ann Lumsden, "If a woman is sleep-deprived, suffering depression and discomfort…it is most definitely worth the risk." Alternately, author and journalist Dame Jenni Murray, who was prescribed HRT for 10 years and stopped when she developed cancer, doesn't believe that HRT is ever worth the potential harm. e bottom line? Choosing HRT as treatment for menopause symptoms is an important de- cision for which you should get sound counsel from experts before moving forward. Well, it seems that some venture capitalists finally get your polarizing preferences. ere is a growing housing trend in larger cities called co-living that allows millennials to have their cake and eat it, too. More 25- to 34-year-olds live with roommates than in previous generations. Rental prices have climbed and wages have remained stagnant. Inspired by office-sharing companies like WeWork, investors are now converting office buildings into "adult dorms." Don't envision piles of unwashed laundry, packages of Ramen noodles, and frequent episodes of undergrad bacchanalia. ese are actually "micro-units" or "micro-apartments" built around shared living spaces used for cooking, eating and most importantly, hanging out. 18 | GRAVITAS MAGAZINE GravitasMag.com
