A pleasant collection of high-end boutiques, waterfront restaurants, pastel beach coages, and stunning properties, the environment remains charming and provincial. Boca Grande is one of the most pristine and unspoiled coastal scenes one can still experience along Florida's Gulf Coast. Just as the Calusa Indians tamed the wilds of Florida by living well off the land 's generous fish stocks, Boca Grande remains a favorite playground for fishermen today. With the deepest natural pass in Florida at the mouths of both the Peace and the Myak ka R ivers, the location provides a rich feeding ground, aracting bait fish and sharks, as well as the famous tarpon. Probably best known for its tarpon fishing tournaments ever y spring , Boca Grande's 80-day season boasts a record of 5,000 tarpon landed. Honoring the beautiful silver fish, the tournaments adopted a catch-and-release philosophy to ensure viability of the species. FloridaHomesMag.com | 41
