WOMEN IN HISTORY
By Nella DeCesare
L
e barren and in constant pain from a deadly bus crash as a
teenager, Frida K ahlo endured a lifetime of health problems,
but was able to channel her pain and struggles into thought-
provok ing artwork . Her hallmark, intense and vibrant
self-portraits of a woman whose angst and suffering was
captured on canvas, makes her one of the most notable feminist icons for
her realistic portrayals of the female body and form.
