Marina spotliGht e Bradenton Yacht Club combines the luxur y of a five-star resort with the friendliness and warmth of a family waterfront vacation home. Located on si x scenic acres along the Manatee R iver, the Bradenton Yacht Club has welcomed boaters for generations with hospitality and an array of activities for all ages. e BYC is one of the 13 original founding clubs in the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, chartered in 1946 with 18 members that met in the Memorial Pier building in Bradenton. As membership grew during the 1960s, members moved into the club's first building in 1968. A swimming pool, new k itchen, bathrooms and office were added a few years later. Improvements and expansion kept up with the growing membership to the BYC, earning the club the reputation as one of the friendliest clubs in the council. e Yacht Basin was completed in 1976 with the property eventually, being annexed into the City of Palmeo and located on beautiful Snead Island. Resort-style amenities have enhanced the yacht club, with two tennis courts, clubhouse and pool area, and the popular Tik i Bar. e BYC offers elegant and casual dining options for members and guests, with picturesque riverfront views to rela x and enjoy with friends and enjoy a tropical cocktail. e clubhouse is the center of activity, with monthly social activities that include wine society, book club, kayak ing , bik ing , bridge, trivia, tennis, golf and more. e BYC also hosts yearly sail races and fishing tournaments. e 52-slip full-ser vice marina, easily accessible through Terra Ceia Bay to the Manatee R iver, is an oasis for club members and FCYC visitors mak ing excursions around Florida's west coast. Sailors and overnight guests have access to restrooms, showers, fuel and pump-out facilities, as well as ice, water, electricity, cable T V and WiFi. For boaters who want to trade in their seafaring wear for a dayside excursion, bicycles are available for rent to explore Snead Island and nearby Emerson Point Park and Preser ve. Today, the Bradenton Yacht Club has grown to 550 members, locally and from around the world, who share the love of the water and enjoy an array of family-oriented activities that blend with a histor y of formal traditions.
