Talks are underway to develop a
new water park in Manatee County.
Lost Lagoon will be located on a 20-
acre expanse of Tom Bennett Park,
northwest of I-75 and State Road 64.
The water park, with a tropical jungle
theme, will feature slides, a lazy river,
an amphitheater and a beach.
Mattamy Homes plans to develop
20,000 new homes over the
next 40 years in North Port.
The $100 million project outlines
new home construction, priced
between $250,000 to $500,000.
The Preserve at the West Villages
will include single-family homes,
condominiums and villas.
According to the latest S&P/Case-
Shiller Index, the Tampa Bay area
reported a healthy 6.8% annual gain
in home prices. Economists credit
the area's healthy housing revival
on falling unemployment, stronger
consumer confidence and more
affordable housing in Pinellas and
Hillsborough counties.

Early development plans for
Downtown Tampa's Channelside
District have been unveiled.
Tampa Bay Lightning owner,
Jeff Vinik, has partnered with
Cascade Investment LLC to
develop the three million square foot area to support
the increasing foot traffic of cruise ship tourists, Amalie
Arena events, convention attendees, and the new
University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine-
Heart Institute. Infrastructure improvements could total
over $30 million, with construction underway by 2016.
