Developers broke ground on a
new $175 million mega resort
on Clearwater Beach. The 450-
room Wyndham Grand Resort
will feature two 15-story towers
with ballroom, 24,000 square feet
of event space, spa and several
restaurants. When completed, the
new resort will be one of the tallest
structures built on Clearwater
Beach and one of the biggest
hotels in the Tampa Bay area. It is
scheduled to open in 2017.
The Tampa City Council
approved an agreement
to reimburse some of the
developer's infrastructure costs.

Jeff Vinik has announced plans
for a billion-dollar development
project in downtown Tampa.
The project, scheduled over the
next several years, includes a
new urban medical school, hotel,
parking garage, residential, and
nearly 3 million square feet of
commercial space.
