As our northern friends prepare for another wave of
arctic weather, the waves hitting us in the Sunshine
State are a different variety; the kind that cascade
onto the sand filling the air with the crisp scent of salt
water. While New Englanders ready their shovels in
preparation for the next foot of snow headed their
way, us Floridans have our shovels close at hand as well,
to build sandcastles. Winter has an entirely different
meaning depending on your location. If the favorable
real estate reports are any indication, apparently there
are quite a few Northern residents who are ready to
trade their snow shovels in for a sand scupper.
Our beautiful winter weather is the perfect time to
spend some time on the links. For anyone interested
in swinging a club, we explore the best golf courses in
Southwest Florida from Tiburon in Naples to Avila in
Tampa. We also feature some fantastic destinations,
Downtown St Petersburg with its energetic vibe,
Downtown Sarasota, the cultural mecca and Old
