City leaders in Fort Myers are trying
once again to bring a high-rise hotel
to their riverfront district. A poten-
tial hotel developer is looking at the
property by the Harborside Convention Center on Edwards
and Bay streets. The plan is to build a 12-story, 250-room
Sheraton hotel. It will cost $53 million to build, but the city
would have to come up with $5 million to upgrade Harborside
for the developer to consider the deal.
