Caladesi Island, off the north end of the beach, was recognized as the nation's best beach by Dr. Beach in 2008. Pier 60, named for State Road 60 which terminates here, is a central spot for beachgoers. It has a playground, a snack bar with aached souvenir shop, and a long fishing pier.
