Tampa recently ranked 19th on Livability.com's survey of the Top 100 Most Livable Cities in America. The survey,
based on eight categories for small-to-midsized cities with populations between 20,000 and 350,000, included the
following categories: economics, housing amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital, education
and healthcare. Tampa's overall score totaled 620. The second highest ranking of a Florida city, Tampa also tied the top
score for amenities at 93 alongside Irvine Ca. Other Florida cities on the list include Miami Beach, which ranked fifth, Jacksonville,
Gainesville, Tallahassee, West Palm Beach and St. Petersburg.

2014 will gain the fifth cruise line
when AIDA Cruises begins sailing
to Western Caribbean ports of
calls. AIDA will begin sailing the
first of four Western Caribbean
cruises from Tampa for the 20142015 sailing season with the 1,266
passenger AIDAvita and will use
the 2,194 passenger AIDAmar on
seven cruises from Tampa for the
2015-2016 season.
City officials plan to put out a call
in the coming weeks for proposals to build a hotel at the western
entrance to Ybor City, Tampa's
economic development chief said
Thursday. The request for proposals would cover an L-shaped
piece of city-owned land at
Seventh Avenue and Nuccio
Parkway.
Developers say they have a green
light to start work on building a
massive new outlet mall in Pasco
County, with construction possibly starting this summer. When
complete, the Cypress Creek
Town Center project would represent the first open-air outlet
mall in the Tampa metro area, at
State Road 56 and Interstate 75,
retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue
Off 5th have already signed up.
