DESIGNING HIGH-
VALUE ARRANGEMENTS
IN MULTIPLES IS THE
SOLUTION FOR
FULFILLING HOLIDAY
VOLUME AND
MAXIMIZING SALES
AND PROFITS

With the fall and winter holiday
seasons approaching, it is
especially important to manage
costs—both materials and labor.
One way to do that is to create
flower design "recipes" that detail
the specific materials to be used
in each arrangement, as well as
how many of each item. With the
retail price of each arrangement
in mind, plan designs that feature
not only the best-priced flowers
available at the time but also
flowers that are appropriate for
the arrangement's theme and style
and that will provide the greatest
impact—including a few premium
blooms. Be sure to take advantage
of suppliers' pre-book and box-lot
specials when planning.
In addition, whether the
designs be for holiday parties
or in-store inventory, it is most
cost effective to design multiple
arrangements at one time—six
to 10, depending on the space
available—production-line style,
one flower type or component at a
time. is holiday centerpiece has
a high perceived value due to the
exotic orchids and luxurious roses,
yet it can be created quickly and
efficiently because it comprises
fewer than a dozen blooms, a
modicum of foliage and easily
added accessories.
