Place black river rocks into the vase, around the sides of the fl oral foam. Step 2 Arrange three stems of red-fl ower- ing banana and parakeet Helico- nia vertically, in a group, toward the right edge of the container. Step 3 Arrange stems of Chinese evergreen on the right side of the design, among the stems of banana fl owers and Heliconia. Then, arrange stems of fi shtail fern on the opposite side of the design. Step 4 Form loops of foliage with corn- plant leaves and leaf segments of a palm frond. Curl the tip of each corn-plant leaf backward, and secure the tip to the stem with paper-covered wire (two are shown in this design). Similarly, create one or more palm leaf loops by curling the tip of a leaf segment and securing it to the base of the leaf segment with a 3-inch wired wood pick (one is shown in this design). Step 5 Create a trio of loofah sponge gourds by gluing three of them side by side with hot glue or liquid fl oral adhesive. Glue a 6-inch wood pick into the base of the loofah sponge trio. Alternatively, glue a 6-inch wood pick into the base of each of three loofah sponges. Step 6 Arrange the foliage loops and loofah sponges into the fl oral foam, in the right half of the design. Next, arrange three garden roses into the fl oral foam—at varying levels, to create depth—in the left half of the design.
