He tried to woo her by sing- ing songs to her, but she rejected his advances. He eventually died from a broken heart, and a Ranunculus flower is said to have emerged from the soil upon which he died. Nj Derived from the Latin words rana and unculus, "Ranunculus" means little frog—not alluding to their appear- ance but rather to where they often found growing naturally: in wet marshy areas "among the frogs." RANUNCULUS EVENT For those looking to experi- ence the immersive beauty of fields of spring Ranunculus in person, Certified American Grown (CAG) offers an annual ocean-side gourmet dining experience at Mellano & Company's "The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch" in Carlsbad, Calif., which is one stop of CAG's 2023 "Field to Vase Dinner Tour." The ticketed event is scheduled for April 20 this year; you can register (hurry!) at americangrownflowers.org/ field-to-vase. Each year, from around March 1 through Mother's Day, this commercial grower of Ranunculus opens its 55-acre farm to visitors around the world, to view the waves of brilliant colors. 1 | 'San Mauro' – The soft, light pink color of 'San Mauro' is very romantic. 2 | 'Rosa 418' – The vintage-looking 'Rosa 418' blends beautifully with all types of coral-hued flowers. 3 | 'Fragolino' – If you want to go all out, then the hot coral-colored 'Fragolino' cannot be left out. 4 | 'Blushing Pascal' – A stunning peach-colored variety with a fresh-looking green-colored center. 5 | 'Nerone' – Add a touch of elegant mystery with the contrasting darkish aubergine-colored blooms of 'Nerone'. 6 | 'Bolero' – When it is used in event decorations, the hot pink-colored 'Bolero' definitely seduces to dance the night away. 7 | 'Tango' – The tango dance symbolizes passion, and so is the so-called Ranunculus variety! 8 | 'Firenze' – This amazing Ranunculus variety is named after Firenze, the white-haired centaur we know from Harry Potter. A great story to tell to your customers if they opt for a magical wedding theme! 9 | 'Mambo' – 'Mambo' will certainly add a vibrant touch to any floral decoration. 10 | 'Cappuccino' – We're just smitten by this gorgeous variety!
