Step by Step
• German crepe paper
from Rose Mille
(Peach/Pink, Yellow/Goldenrod
and Leaf/Moss)
(a.k.a. double-sided crepe paper,
doublette and Gloria double-
sided crepe paper)
• Aleene's

Original Tacky Glue

• Floratape

Stem Wrap
• OASIS
™
Florist Wire (16 gauge)
Step 1
Prep the paper.
Cut rectangular pieces of German crepe
paper in these dimensions:
• Petal 1: 2 1/4" x 1 1/2"; cut 18 pieces
• Petal 2: 2 3⁄4" x 1 3⁄4"; cut 8 pieces
• Petal 3: 2 1⁄4" x 1 1/2"; cut 8 pieces
• Petal 4: 1 3⁄4" x 1 1⁄4"; cut 36 pieces
• Sepal 1: 1⁄2" x 3⁄4"; cut 7 pieces
Step 2
Cut out the petals.
Trace the coordinating petal templates onto
the designated paper before cutting. Make
sure the template arrow runs in the same
direction as the grain of the crepe paper.
This will ensure that the petals and sepals
will stretch to form realistic looking petals.
• Use the Petal 1 template to cut out 18 petals
• Use the Petal 2 template to cut out 8 petals
• Use the Petal 3 template to cut out 8 petals
• Use the Petal 4 template to cut out 36 petals
• Use the Sepal template to cut out 7 sepals
Step 3
Create the center (stamens) of the rose.
• Fold a long narrow strip of
Yellow/Goldenrod German crepe
paper in half
• Starting at one edge, cut half way across
the piece. Create a fringe by making cuts as
close together as possible—about 1/16th
of an inch apart.
• Place a line of dots of tacky glue along
the uncut part of the fringed paper. Tightly
wrap this strip around one end of a florist
wire. Set aside, and allow the stamen dry
while you complete Steps 4 and 5.
Step 4
Shape the petals.
• Starting with the Petal 1 set, cup two
petals at the same time by placing your two
thumbs in the center of the petals and gently
press your thumbs into the paper, forming a
slightly cupped shape. Then do the Petal 2
set, the Petal 3 set and the Petal 4 set.
TIP: Try using different degrees of pressure
as you shape the petals to make each petal
slightly different. Also, don't worry which
side of colored crepe paper you use. Use
a combination of half light and half dark, to
give the flower a nice contrast and interest.
