6 July 2022 welcome J uly is "American Grown Flowers and Foliage Month," a monthlong "American Grown Flowers and Foliage Month," a monthlong "American Grown Flowers and Foliage Month," celebration that recognizes the contributions of cut fl ower and foliage farmers, their families and their teams to bring high-quality domestically grown products to consumers. Annually sponsored by Certi ed American Grown (CAG) and its member farmers, "American Grown Flowers and Foliage Month" became offi cial on July 2, 2020, when the U.S. Senate passed a resolution introduced by three senators from California and Alaska. e resolution recognizes how vital domestic fl ower and foliage production is to U.S. ag industry and urges all U.S. consumers to purchase Certifi ed American Grown fl owers and foliage, not only during July but also year-round. To help celebrate "American Grown Flowers and Foliage Month," we are proud to devote a portion of this issue to domestic our domestic fl ower/foliage-growing industry including: • Nita Robertson, AIFD, CFD's report, "American Grown," starting on Page 16; • is month's "Best in Blooms" contest winners and fi nalists, who used exclusively Certifi ed American Grown fl owers to create their winning designs, Page 20; • "In Season," which highlights domestically grown Dahlia, Page 30; • A delightful "pool fl oat," featuring Certifi ed American Grown fl owers, Page 38. Also in this issue, packed with design inspiration and business management information, you will fi nd features on innovative giftware ideas for the 2022 holiday season (Page 24), website development services for retail fl ower shops (Page 44), the top professional fl orist delivery systems (Page 50), infl ation-busting tips for protecting your profi ts (Page 54)—and so much more. I'd like to take this opportunity to address an issue we had in our April 2022 issue. A fl oral designer working on a project intended to showcase FibreFloral™ Design Media from Smithers-Oasis was mistakenly given a diff erent product by her wholesale company to use in the design, after a shipment of the intended product— FibreFloral™ Design Media—which was sent to the designer directly by Smithers-Oasis, was delayed by the shipping carrier. When we were made aware of the mistake, which was shortly after the design feature was posted online, we re-shot the how-to photographs (close-ups of the product), using FibreFloral™Design Media from Smithers- Oasis. We then immediately replaced the photos in the online version of the design feature, and we stopped production of the print magazine, to change the images on the press. It was an unfortunate and unintentional error that we addressed quickly, within hours of being made aware of it. It was never our intention to inadvertently feature a diff erent product. We apologize for any confusion this error may have created. As always, I must thank everyone who contributed to this beautiful issue and, especially, our loyal subscribers and marketing partners who make it all possible!
