Drill two 3/16-inch-diameter holes in each disk, all the way through the discs and partially through the oval wood segment. Trim four bamboo skewers to a desired length, and insert one into each of the four holes, keep- ing the pointed tips facing outward. STEP 3 Form two kokedamas using a 1:1 potting- soil-and-peat-moss mixture moistened with water. Cover one soil ball with dried Spanish moss, and wrap it with hemp twine to secure the moss to the soil ball. STEP 4 Remove excess soil from the roots of the bromeliad plant, and position it within the other soil ball. Cover the soil ball with sheet moss, and wrap it with hemp twine. STEP 6 Press the bromeliad plant kokedama onto the other pair of skewers. STEP 1 Secure picture-hanging wire to two wood screws, placed approximately 8 inches apart, to the back of an oval wood crosscut segment. STEP 5 Pierce the Spanish-moss-covered soil ball onto one pair of skewers, and arrange dried botanicals into the medium. BOTANICALS • Amaranthus caudatus, dried (love-lies-bleeding, tassel flower, foxtail amaranth) • Dipsacus fullonum/D. sylvestris, dried (common teasel, wild teasel, fuller's teasel) • Nigella damascena pods, dried (love- in-a-mist, devil-in-a-bush, wild fennel) • Calamagrostis x acutiflora, dried (feather reed grass) • Allium hollandicum, dried (Dutch garlic, Persian onion, ornamental onion) • Miscanthus sinensis, dried (Chinese silver grass, eulalia grass) • Hylotelephium telephium 'Purple Emperor' (formerly Sedum telephium), dried (orpine, stonecrop, live-forever, livelong) • Trachycarpus fortunei, dried (windmill palm, Chinese windmill palm, Chusan palm) • Guzmania spp., fresh (bromeliad) HARD GOODS • Kokedama soil mixture (1:1 potting soil and peat moss) • Hypnum spp. (sheet moss, plait-moss, Hypnum moss) • Tillandsia usneoides (Spanish moss, graybeard) • Waxed hemp twine/candle wick • Oval crosscut wood segment (approx. 24" x 12") • Small wood discs, sealed (two) • Bamboo skewers (3/16", four) • Wood screws (four) • Picture-hanging wire • Picture wall hook and nail
