Frank Gallo Jr. is a third-generation retail florist in Schenectady, N.Y. He wasn't raised in the flower business and didn't have aspirations of working in the floral industry, but as fate would have it, he ended up there. He learned the business from the ground up at his family's flower shop, Frank Gallo Florist, which was established in 1920—101 years ago! Frank Gallo Sr. was a pioneer and well known in the flower business. He was friends with another florist, Arthur Conforti Sr., owner of Concourse Florist in Bronx, N.Y. As the industry evolved, Conforti moved to Sarasota, Fla., where he opened Beneva Flowers. After he retired, his son Art Jr. took over the business. Art learned the flower business in the same ways and with the same values that Frank Gallo Jr., did. These two complete each other's sentences and have a scary connection to philosophies and a love of sports. Frank Gallo Jr. kindly shares his thoughts about working with the Bloomerang team. I've always admired Art's tenacity and passion. People say he is always selling something—and I won't argue that—but he is also always sharing. Art has done everything he pitches. He genuinely wants to see florists grow and succeed. It's like having big brother over your shoulder. We advertised and marketed our business the same way for years, with little change, until the technology bubble formed. Unlike many florists, Art was quick to embrace technology and integrate it into his floral business. Over the years, our business has evolved, and Art and the Bloomerang team have played a huge role in that. When you work with Art and the Bloomerang team, you are getting your own in-house marketing team. I have watched Art perform since getting on board, and he has slowly but surely redone our marketing plan. He not only rolls up his sleeves but he is also happy to explain all you may want to know. Be careful what you ask for because once he starts explaining, it can quickly turn technical! The Boomerang team is an extension of Frank Gallo Florist. Art has a team with whom I truly enjoy working. I can be demanding of the people with whom I work, and the Bloomerang team have always met the challenge and even exceeded my expectations.
