STEP 2 Glue one of the larger fl owers to the top of a 2-inch-wide hard plastic headband, slightly off-center and facing slightly forward, with liquid fl oral adhesive. Liquid fl oral adhesive takes a minute or two to become tacky, so press the fl ower fi rmly onto the headband, without damaging the fl ower, until the fl ower is secure. Alternatively, apply liquid fl oral adhesive to a section of the headband, and allow it to become tacky before placing the fl owers. STEP 3 Glue a second and third large fl ower (the same type and color as the fi rst or one similar in size) next to the fi rst, also slightly off- center and behind the fi rst fl ower. TIP: Work both sides of the headband, front and back, one after the other, to balance the size and form of the design. STEP 4 Glue other botanicals—fl owers, foliages, grasses, etc.—into the center section of the headband with liquid fl oral adhesive, to add texture and interest. STEP 5 After designing the center section of the headband, glue smaller botanical materials to both sides of the headband, downward to the tips. Alternate turning the headband frontward and backward. TIP: When gluing the smaller botanicals to the sides of the headband, consider the shape you want to create. I typically follow the shape of the headband so that the design in fuller and thicker in the center of the headband and gradually narrows toward the tips. STEP 6 Once the design is fi nished, allow the adhesive to fully dry. Then, spray the fl owers lightly with an exterior-coating fi nishing spray like Floralife ® Crowning Glory ® , and allow that to dry. Once the fi nishing spray has dried completely, place the design into an air-tight plastic bag, and refrigerate it at the proper temperature for the types of fl owers used until it is ready for delivery or use.
