10 August | 2021 Florist Spotlight Ana Isabel Vivas and Anais Vivas Aniska Creations Miami, Fla. I fi rst met the dynamic duo, Ana and Anais, of Aniska Creations, at the Bal Harbor "Fleurs de Villes" show where their fabulous fl oral dress won fi rst place. While their work is elegant and luxurious, it was their big smiles and generous personalities I remember most. In only a few years, this mother-and-daughter team have built a thriving business by focusing on their Latin heritage, their passion for fl owers and their dedication to each other. By Jules Lewis Gibson FR : What got you started in the fl oral industry, and what brought you to Miami? AIV: Originally from Venezuela, I went to school at the University of Virginia and studied urban planning. But, while at school, I met my husband, and my daughter, Anais, was born. After deciding I needed help looking after my daughter, we moved back to Venezuela. is was around 1990. en many years later, my daughter became an international award- winning pop star, in 2013 and 2014 winning "Best Female Artist" at the Venezuela Music Awards. However, because of the political turmoil in Venezuela, the family decided to move to the United States in December 2014, settling in Miami. Anais already had a music scholarship at the University of Miami, so it wasn't hard to decide where to live in America. My daughter knew that I was sad to leave Venezuela, and she showed me an Instagram account showing fl ower design. I had taught crafts and worked with fl owers as a hobby in Venezuela, and had photos of some designs of my own that she posted. Two days later, I got my fi rst client. Anais soon joined me as a business partner, and now we both work full time as Aniska Creations.
