THIS CONTEMPORARY
"LIVING" TABLE-DÉCOR
CONCEPT OFFERS
EXTREME DESIGN
VERSATILITY AND
CHECKS THE BOX
FOR CLIENTS WITH
SUSTAINABILITY AND
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONCERNS.
COMPONENT PLANT
centerpiece
"Living" centerpieces are
most certainly a part of the
sustainability movement in the
event world. In this composition,
I accented a dramatic blooming
Phalaenopsis orchid plant with a
colorful and textural assortment
of smaller foliage plants, creating
a monochromatic palette of green
hues; however, a version featuring
all fl owering plants—or even
a mix of foliage and fl owering
plants—would be just the ticket
for clients and events requiring
a bit more color.
With this versatile living
component centerpiece concept,
the event host can either
repurpose the individual plants
or, better yet, surprise guests at
each table by allowing them to
take home a piece of the party.
For environment-conscious
clients or plant lovers old and
new seeking something a bit
more unusual and creative,
this type of centerpiece will
surely be a popular alternative
to more traditional cut-fl ower
centerpieces. And it works equally
well for round and square tables,
as well as for long rectangular
tables, where a series of these
designs could be placed—possibly
accented with pillar and/or votive
candles or other seasonal or
event-themed accessories.
