in Brooklyn, N.Y., heard loud and clear
her customers' requests for a different
kind of green. "We saw a huge demand
increase for houseplants this year," she
reports. "Because people were home
a lot more, they wanted to make their
spaces feel 'homier.' We had sold
plants before but never with this
amount of inventory."
Cameron responded by expanding
her offerings to include tools and
potting supplies not usually part of her
repertoire. "I really tried to lean into
what my customers were asking about
and become a resource. Your customers
will tell you what they want, but you
have to listen," she advises
